MYP3 start with a week of Work Experience before the Easter break. A visit to the Student Fair in the spring is mandatory in order to get students to think about the alternatives for the future.
Going into MYP4 there is another week of Work Experience, week 41, which is followed by mandatory secondary school visits. There are ample opportunities to visit schools at Open House and to shadow a student at interesting programs either at Diploma or a Swedish program.
The EA has classes for students where the Swedish and International school systems are explained. Students are called to an individual meeting to discuss their possibilities, in order to make wise choices for the future. Parent meetings are held and parents are encouraged to follow the student to the EA. The web-based application system closes February 15 and opens up again in the middle of April, when results are published and students can make alternative choices.
MYP5-DP2 are then guided and advised about further Higher Education, in Sweden or abroad. There are mandatory and voluntary trips to Lund University and different Fairs at other DP schools in Malmö and Lund. Representatives from Universities abroad visit ISH to give information about what they can offer DP2 students. Parent information sessions are held. There is extensive help when applying to the UK and US and writing Personal Statements. Classes and individual support on the application process is provided.
